Washington D.C.: Alexandria

This past weekend, I drove down to Alexandria, Virginia, to see my baby nephew, brother, and sister-in-law. I even managed to fit in a (VERY) short visit to see Staci in Baltimore on her birthday!

Post-storm skies during a 20 minute traffic stop in D.C. Definitely no cherry blossoms yet.

The last time I was in the D.C. area was for my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party, and I didn’t really get to see much. This time, I made sure to wander around their neighborhood of Old Town and take in the cuteness of the row houses and waterfront. They also took me to the nearby outlets where I bought a ton of discounted Under Armour and Nike.

Besides lots of walking and shopping, there was also a ton of eating. Most of which was done at Live Oak and Pendleton Carryout Co.

Before leaving for NYC, I managed to get in a training run with my brother and nephew along part of the Mt. Vernon Trail and to Del Ray. Note to future parents — running with a stroller is HARD and not for the reason you would think. Not being able to move your arms while propelling forward is actually very difficult, as it turns out. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful spring day in D.C., and I was happy to be out enjoying the weather.

Being in the South (yes, Virginia is the south y’all) made me very excited for spring weather. Unfortunately, spring is taking its damn time getting to NYC, so I might have to make another trip down soon. Who knows!
