The Packing List: Scandinavia

Once upon a time, Jen and I traveled places. Thanks to Jen’s crazy bargain-hunting travel agent skills, we managed to visit new countries almost every year. We had a good streak going as long as I wasn’t having multiple surgeries in a year and Jen wasn’t planning a wedding.

We traveled so much, we had a ton to write about. And when we started to run out of ideas, we’d be on the brink of our next trip, full of new packing list and watch before you go posts. Jen got married in 2019 so we didn’t plan a big trip that year; at this point, that feels like a decade ago because we all know how 2020 went. So aside from a few trips to Rehoboth here and there, Jen and I have not had a classic HTJL trip in some time. What this means is…blog post ideas are scarce.

So I looked back at drafts we started and never finished for some inspiration. There’s some good stuff in there! (I commit to doing my best to overcome my 2020-shaped ennui and actually write some of these in the coming weeks for you.) But the Scandinavia packing list post I started and never finished or published is actually perfect for right now.

Why, you ask? Because it is clearly the end times and we need more hygge in our lives. Texas froze over, and we’ve all witnessed the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse terrorizing the world.

OK JK. I mean, not entirely…it really is possible that history will look back on this time as the early stages of the crumbling of American civilization with these four leading the charge, but things are not AS dire as they were, say, the last time I wrote in this here blog. The good news is America voted to put adults back in charge of things and now we have vaccines since we can’t, as Americans, collectively just be on good, hygienic behavior because “FREEDOM.”

That said, while spring IS around the corner, it wasn’t that long ago that it snowed in Texas. The vaccines are great and I can’t wait to get one, but they don’t necessarily mean we should all leave our houses and run amok. These two things mean now is a great time to discuss hygge-wear, a.k.a. cozy, comfortable black clothing.

Yes, that’s right. Scandinavians have been living my dream—to wear soft, flexible, all-black clothing without being asked if I’m ~OK~. Yes, I’m OK. Black is just my power color.

JK, gray is actually my power color since I got cats who are not black but who do leave their non-black fur all over my chic black clothes. In fact, I unintentionally actually did pack a ton of black clothing when Jen and I visited Scandinavia just because I knew it was an opportunity to wear these clothes without having to lint roll!

I love you, Scandinavia.

Chic black clothing is the name of the game when it comes to the Scandinavia packing list OR the clothes you’ll be wearing for the foreseeable future as we just HANG ON A LITTLE LONGER and wait out winter/COVID. The beauty of this packing list is it’s perfect if you, like me, have forgotten how to dress yourself! Everything matches!

Here’s a sample packing list/capsule wardrobe. Enjoy the comfort of an elastic waistband AND the ultimate put-togetherness of all black. You can click each image to take you to its seller. YOU ARE WELCOME.

Keep distancing, stay warm, get vaccinated, and keep cozy my friends!
