ALL OVER: NEXT UP

Welp, 2017 might have been a bust for a big Staci-Jen trip (due to awful work schedules and medical complications), but we're rectifying that with a newly booked trip to...

COPENHAGEN & STOCKHOLM!

Get ready for the Jethags to invade your feeds with posts on vikings, herring, and ABBA.

Here's what I'm excited for in each city (possible day trips to come):

COPENHAGEN

Nyhavn

This is the place that most people picture when they think of Copenhagen (see above). This famous canal is flanked by beautifully painted houses with bars, restaurants, and cafes.

Christiania

This commune started in 1971 inside of army barracks now houses artists’ studios, organic shops, restaurants, and music venues (in addition to aging hippies).

Church of Our Saviour

This baroque church built in the 1700s has the best view of the city (according to locals). The climb to the top is only 400 steps. Nothing compared to St. Peter's Basilica!

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

OK, so this isn't technically in Copenhagen, but that doesn't mean we can't visit it. In fact, from what I know, we absolutely SHOULD visit it. Besides the super cool building and "maze of halls and corridors that weave through the rolling gardens" (according to Lonely Planet), the art in the halls are worth the trip. The museum houses work by artists like Jean Arp, Max Ernst, Warhol, Bacon, Picasso, and Giacometti just to name a few.

Strøget

We can't NOT walk on one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe!

Torvehallerne

With over 80 shops including well-known tea and chocolate shops, we'll definitely be stopping in.

Danish Jewish Museum

I'm always fascinated by Europe's Jewish Quarters. Even though I don't have any (known) ancestry in Nordic countries, it's always cool to see what other Jews experienced throughout history. This museum memorializes the story of Danish Jews who were saved from Nazi persecution by their fellow Danes in October 1943. The interior of the museum looks INSANE.

STOCKHOLM

Stortorget

This is probably the most photographed part of Stockholm. At least my Instagram feed seems to think so. It's the oldest square in the city and the highest point of Gamla Stan.

Canal Trip

The more I read about Stockholm, the more it seems like Venice to me. Between the maze of streets, canals and city built of tiny islands, I'm excited to see the town by boat, much like I did in Italy (minus the gondola).

Moderna Museet

This modern museum with pieces by Picasso, Dalí, Duchamp, Matisse, and so many others looks right up our alley.

The Medieval Museum

OK, so I know this is geared toward children, but OMG it looks JUST LIKE the viking Dublinia Museum in Dublin and we all know how amazing that was.

Royal Palace

Stockholm is apparently home to one of the largest palaces in Europe. (There are five museums inside of it!)

Södermalm

The neighborhood that brought us Greta Garbo now has a ton of quirky boutiques and cafes. It's referred to as "SoFo" which reminds me of NYC/Brooklyn neighborhoods.

British afternoon tea, but Swedish style? YES PLEASE! I'll take all the coffees and pastries STAT. I plan on trying this in a few places since its more of a cultural thing than a meal specific to any one shop.

If you've been to Denmark or Sweden recently, we welcome any and all suggestions (especially on shopping, eating and drinking)!

Adjö!
