Gift Guide: 2018 Jetsetters

GUYS. The holidays are moving FAST. I dunno about you, but the early-in-the-month Thanksgiving this year really snuck up on my ass, and of course, the Jewish holidays are also early this year. Which means if you’re gift-giving to your Tribe friends like me or Jen this year, welp, I hope you have Amazon Prime and two-day shipping because the first night of Hanukkah was last night and you’ve only got seven more nights left.

GET. IT. TOGETHER.

Luckily, we’ve got you covered with our 2018 gift guide. This year’s list for the jetsetters in your life includes a heavy dose of products from female business owners (because that’s how we do).

  1. Rifle Paper World Traveler Wall Calendar, $26 Amazon Honestly, who doesn’t love some paper goods featuring Anna Bond’s delightful illustrations? I am ALWAYS partial to her floral designs, and one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten was her World Traveler Calendar. I hung that shit at my desk for a beautiful reminder of why I work hard — to visit all the beautiful cities she illustrates.

  2. Wanderlust Rolltop Bag, $159 Lee Coren Lee Coren, owner of this GORGEOUS line of products, reached out to us recently, and of course, we both love her stuff. So many great things about Lee — 1) she’s Israeli, and we both LOVED our time in Israel, 2) all of her products are vegan and ethically made, and 3) her stuff is meant for travel. Everything is great, but I picked this rolltop bag for the gift list because everything about it is perfect. It’s chic, but it’s also utilitarian. It can be carried as a purse or a backpack, it is roomy enough for all the shit you need when you’re out and about in a new city, and best of all, the rolltop makes it virtually pickpocket-proof. Check out her other stuff too, it’s so cute (I want one of these scarves)!

  3. MOGI Yoga Mat Bag, $27.99 Amazon If you’re buying for someone who is a more active sort on vacation, this is a perfect gift. This yoga mat bag can be slung over your shoulder or clipped onto the back of a bike. While we all know I’m no cyclist, I am a yogi, and I’ve been in the market for a new mat bag for quite some time. I’ve been rull tired of stuffing my mat in my old cylindrical canvas bag and it never quite fitting. So when we visited my boyfriend’s friends Nick and Lyndsey in Boston, and I took Lyndsey’s yoga class and borrowed a mat in this bag (THAT SHE CREATED), I made a mental note to request one for Hanukkah. Lucky me, Scott gave me one as an early Hanukkah gift. It zips around the corners, so no more wedging my untidily rolled mat into the corners. It’s also waterproof, which is great since I am partial to VERY sweaty hot yoga classes.

  4. Yes To Charcoal Paper Mask, $2.50 Target If you follow along on my other blog, you know that I’ve made a big switch this year to as many all-natural bath, beauty, and household products as possible. I am a big fan of the Yes To products which you can pick up at Target. These make a great stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift if your party is a little on the low-key side. Why for the traveler? Because sheet masks on planes are totally a thing now, just ask Jen or Busy Philipps.

  5. Color Map Mugs, $18-$24 Uncommon Goods When I moved into my own place two years ago, I made it very clear to friends and family that while I appreciate all the mugs I’ve been gifted over the years, I didn’t need ANY more. I had two overflowing shelves of mugs and I am AN single person. The thing is, I get why mugs are so giftable (especially to cat ladies). There are an endless array of mugs with quippy sayings or funny illustrations (I am particularly partial to my mug with a NSFW profanity-laden list of grammar mistakes…it is filled with pens on my home office desk). Even though I cut people off from buying me mugs and this listing therefore makes me SUCH a hypocrite, how perfect are these mugs on which you can color in places you’ve been to or places you want to go?

  6. Tune Out Musical Sleep Mask, $34.95 Uncommon Goods Now that Scott lives with me and has the lights slowly begin to brighten in order to wake him starting at 4:30 in the fucking morning, I’ve become an avid user of sleep masks to block out the light. In addition to being light-blocking and soft and cushy, this sleep mask takes it to the next level for travel by adding in a soundtrack to also block out the sounds of the crying baby in the back of the plane or perhaps the thumping bass from the bar next door. WIN!

And you’re welcome — travel gifts at every price point. Now go make your traveling friends’ and family’s holidays happy, Hashtag Jetlag-approved!
