Best Of: International News + Politics Podcasts

So yeah. Thanks to Hurricane Irma, I'm stuck in Florida (which isn't too bad since I'm here with my boyfriend and the weather is lovely). Our power and internet did not go out, but if it had, I would have been set with my ever-expanding queue of podcasts to listen to.

In addition to keeping me up-to-date on what's going on in this clusterfuck we call America, I use podcasts to stay informed about what is going on in the rest of the world. So today I give you the best podcasts in international news and politics.

Rough Translation

This relatively new weekly NPR podcast explores issues that hit close to home here in the U.S. -- but it does so in other countries. From surrogacy in China to race in Brazil to fake news in Ukraine, it's fascinating to hear how other cultures and countries are navigating the same issues we're navigating here at home.

BBC Radio 4 The World Tonight

Like the NYT's "The Daily" and NPR's "Up First," my boyfriend turned me onto BBC's "The World Tonight." It's always 38 minutes, and they hit top headlines and delve into the biggest stories going on globally (which incidentally still involves a lot of Donald Trump -____-). Because of the time difference, it comes out in the evening, so it makes for perfect listening while cooking dinner. Plus soothing British accents.

Pod Save The World

Part of the Crooked Media empire, this weekly podcast dives deep into world news and what it means to us in the U.S. Host Tommy Vietor is a former spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council under President Obama and knows his shit.

Where do you get your global news?
