Florida: Tubing at Ginnie Springs

Since the last time I visited Gainesville it was unusually cold, on this trip I was stoked for 90-degree weather and all the time in the water I could handle. I had never been tubing before, and since my boyfriend mentioned that there was tubing nearby, I told him I wanted to go.

After much debate about which place to go to, we decided on Ginnie Springs. He was originally opposed to it because he said in past trips it had been crowded and full of obnoxious, drunk college kids. But since some of the other spots weren't open on Fridays until after Memorial Day, and since it wasn't quite peak season and was also graduation weekend at University of Florida, we decided to chance it.

And I'm really glad we did! Yes, there were a few handfuls of said annoying college kids, but overall, it was pretty quiet and peaceful, and I enjoyed Snapchatting photos and videos of some of the hillbillies camping out along the banks.

If you've never been tubing before, I definitely recommend it. It is super soothing to float along a cool river with the sun on your shoulders, while sipping a cold beer (or a classy peach Seagram's Escapes, whatever the case may be, #nojudgment). We did the length of the river, then walked halfway back and took a dip in one of the springs, where the water was beautifully clear and people were snorkeling, then we did the bottom half of the river all over again! All in all, a perfect day.

Here are some photos to soothe a case of the Mondays (as well as my post-vaca blues).

P.S. The springs are too cold for gators, so all limbs are safe!
