Lately I find myself in need of a podcast refresh because once again, I've run out of episodes on my go-to stations. Sadly, this isn't just because I've been traveling a bunch (though I have been!), its because I'm currently in the process of moving apartments and there's nothing that goes better with packing than a good podcast -- after all, you don't have to look at anything.
Here's what's been keeping me going (and by "going" I mean helping me avoid bursting into tears at any given moment while surrounded by a giant stack of boxes).
This came highly recommended from Staci (and I'm sure she'll have a lot more to say about it in a future post!) Basically its two awesome #BossLadies who are long-distance besties (sound familiar?) and have #RealTalk about about everything from politics to pop-culture to menstruation news. Their theme song is by Robyn. Enough said.
Jessica Williams is maybe one of my favorite people ever. Between her recent epic take down of Gordon Klingenschmitt to her amazing segment on cat-calling, she's basically my hero. When I heard she started a podcast, I knew I had to listen. So far its been mainly stand up from other comedians, but I'm not complaining.
You might think that as someone who hates Trump so much that my heart races with anxiety when I hear his name, that this podcast would enrage me. Well, you're right. Sort of. This podcast explores every angle of this orange-tinted monster so that I can add even more credibility to my hatred.
My friend Maggie recommended this one to me a few weeks ago, and I'm ever so grateful. It's an interview-style podcast for art and pop culture lovers. The in-depth interviews with directors, writers and artists are a great behind-the-scenes look into movies and shows that I love.
I haven't gotten a chance to listen to this new one from NPR, but the previews make it sounds really interesting. Basically a reporter explores one headline in-depth by actually immersing herself in the environment. So far she's covered biker gangs and a house at the center of an HIV outbreak.
Any other new podcasts that I should be tuning into? I have a feeling these won't last me much longer! After all, I'll need some more to fuel the UNPACKING.
