While I may not have traveled quite as much as last year, thanks to a move to Brooklyn and oh, about 500 weddings I had to attend, this year was still filled with some gems.

I started the year with a trip to San Fran for a job interview. While I didn't get the job, I did get a huge dose of nostalgia. I hadn't been to the Bay Area since 2008 and it seemed like nothing had changed (except maybe more tech bros). I had an amazing time catching up with friends who'd moved there, eating my weight in pastries, and attempting to run up nearly vertical hills.

This day ranks in my top five days ever. After a terrifying journey to Tulum where we were definitely not kidnapped, we were rewarded with sea turtles, sting rays, and a man named Crazy Mike.

2016 saw a lot of truly terrible things. We lost Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, Leonard Cohen, and Gene Wilder. We also gained a sentient orange demogorgon. But 2016 also witnessed the union of several of my dearest friends and my brother's engagement to my soon to be sister-in-law. The night was one I'll never forget and not just because the temperature reached 108.

Quebec City enchanted both me and Staci. Its quaint village-like feel, delicious food, and omnipresent art won us over instantly. The people were nice (like Midwest nice) and the views over the St. Lawrence River couldn't be beat. Our Airbnb underneath the chateau wasn't too bad either. :)

Though my family's Disney trip ended in utter sadness with the election results, we did have a delightful time overall. My favorite day began with a 10k that my brother, father and I accidentally joined midway through the race. We ran through Epcot as the sun was rising over the tiny cities of the world and were even handed medals. A close runner-up to that day was the night we were able to enter the Magic Kindgom practically by ourselves till 1 a.m.
With no immediate trips on the horizon (well, besides on to Vermont over New Year's) I'm starting to panic. Any recommendations to kickstart my 2017 trip planning?
