So up until this week, I was like all about this winter. No snow yet this year? December runs in a tank top? El Niño, my MAN!
And then the temperature dropped and I was reminded what winter is REALLY like. I went for an early morning run yesterday and came back looking like a white walker.
I've spent the week bundled up in men's sweaters and my heated blanket, drinking hot tea like there's no tomorrow. Meanwhile, Jen jetted off to California. I'm so goddamn jealous. Luckily, she left us with this sweet playlist, which I'm REALLY into. I also perused another San Fran playlist she used for inspiration and kind of lost my mind a little bit.
You know how sometimes you get in a music rut? Like there really isn't anything new out that floats your boat, and you're tired of all the same shit you usually listen to? And it's really kind of a bummer because sometimes you just need a little music to get you through the day but nothing appeals. It's kind of like looking in the fridge and cursing yourself because your house doesn't just make Chick-Fil-A for you on demand and that's all you really want, but you're not in the mood for anything you actually have.
So that was me, and then I found these two San Francisco playlists that got me like:
Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, CCR, Van Morrison, the Beatles, Sam Cooke. These playlists were killin' it. No more looking for new shit -- this playlist took me BACK. Like back to the days of Saturday mornings spent getting breakfast and running errands with my dad with the oldies station on blast (though not Van Morrison...he HATES Van Morrison...never Van Morrison).
So I felt inspired to make a new playlist with my favorites from both lists -- mostly old music, some new that still fit the vibe. And I'm pretty much obsessed. I don't have any immediate travel up ahead for me this winter, but this music has me fantasizing about a spring road trip through Cali. So you know...eff winter. And remember, Otis fans -- nobody gets woolly. Women don't get woolly. They get weary.
