OK, so technically I spent Memorial Day in New Jersey, but Imma go ahead and call it New York, since it was next to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which New York state proudly claims as its own.
A couple years ago when my friends Nick and AJ told me that they were going to live on a boat, I thought they were a little crazy and a lot awesome. I guess I still think that? But I also totally get it now. Just a five-minute ferry ride from Manhattan's West Side lands you in their backyard, which happens to be the beautiful Liberty State Park. Plus, how great is it to come home, fix yourself a drink, and sit on your floating deck while watching the sun set over the Manhattan skyline? Pretty fucking great. #BoatLife
Plus, when you invite your friends over to your home, its basically always going to be a party. Because you live on a boat.
Since moving off land, Nick and AJ have hosted basically all the major summer holidays because Nick and AJ are awesome. Yesterday was no exception. They fired up the grill, cranked up the Sonos and let their dog, Satie, take care of the rest. J/K, Satie is the chillest dog ever and spent most of the day finding the most comfortable seating possible.
It was a beautiful day spent catching up with friends, soaking up some rays, and relaxing while listening to spot-on Katie Holmes impressions.
P.S. We can't forget a HUGE thank you to the men and women who protect our country!
