Finally, FINALLY, it seems like spring is trying to make itself known. Anyone doing some spring travel? I have a work trip coming up. Whomp whomp. And I'll probably go see Jen and send her into a full-fledged panic attack. (JK, Jen knows I just like to do nothing but sit in the park with my buds and eat my face off when I'm in New York. Speaking of...anyone know when Fleet Week is? Yum.)
Jen came up with some great spring travel items to buy for any of your jetsetter friends who have spring birthdays (::cough::*like me*::cough::). Or, you know, you can just treat yo'self. And now I'm going to tell you why they're great.
1. Biltmore & Madewell Panama Hat, $58 Madewell
This little guy will hide bad hair in case you find yourself caught in an April shower. Plus, it's a lot less douchey than a fedora (which I admittedly do own and wear when traveling).
2. Getaway Duffle Stripes, $55 Flight001
That bastard Kevin and others of his ilk will not be able to tell you that this bag is too big for the overhead. It's the perfect carryon size with the perfect spring pattern.
3. Fringe Scarf in Stripe, $44 J.Crew
A lightweight scarf is a must-have for spring travel. You know you need to layer up because you'll be hot as balls running through the airport but cold as balls once you're on some shitty United jet with the broken air tube thingy blowing on you at full blast and no way to turn it off. Plus it pulls together ANY outfit you might be wearing on the plane (#elasticpants anyone?).
4. Super Mona Ferragosto Sunglasses, $279 J.Crew
WHAT IS THAT BRIGHT YELLOW BALL IN THE SKY BLINDING ME?!!!1!1
5. Polka Dot Print Compact Umbrella, $14.99 Target
You can fit it in your purse and protect yourself from aforementioned April showers. Limits the need for impulse-buying a 2-euro, Sea World-smelling poncho.
6. Cactus What You Preach Battery Pack, $17.99 ModCloth
You can charge all your shit on the go (and do it in spring style), because you know that iPhone is running out at the end of the day when you've been busy taking photos of hairy coos all day.
7. We're Cafe There Travel Bottle, $24.99 ModCloth
Jen notes that you can take this on "your morning bike ride or to a picnic." All I can think of when I see this and and the words "bike ride" is filling it with wine.
8. Outdoor Picnic Blanket Cherry Blossom, $29.99 Target
This is perfect for the beach should you be lucky enough to travel somewhere where it's already that warm. It's also nice for sunbathing in the park like that time I went to New York, got drunk at brunch, passed out in Central Park, and got sunburnt on half my face.
