As a kid, I always thought the only time to travel was summer, probably because my parents weren't like the "cool" parents who took their kids out of school to go skiing or to go to Disney World, so all our trips were in the summer. But now that I'm an "adult," I've realized that fall is an exceptional time for traveling. Leaves are changing, there's a chill in the air...and all that shit.
This weekend I went to Chicago for my homegirl Emily's birthday. That old R.S. turned 30! Shit, man. It was a blast. We ate tons of cheese, watched the Orioles drop Game 2 of the ALCS (I still love them), and then we drowned our sorrows in wine. Lots of wine. Really, all the wine. It was a wine "tasting" birthday party. (And by tasting, I mean guzzling.)
Happy birthday, Em! And don't worry; be Yonce.
Unfortunately, I am sick with god knows what, yet again. Apologies to Em's Chicago friends, who probably think her Baltimore friends are huge losers because I may or may not have passed out on the couch in the middle of the party, not unlike Em and Scott's cat, Cobweb.
A couple weeks ago, I made this sweet autumn playlist that I intended to listen to en route to Chicago and on my way back home. But instead, true to form, I slept on the way there, waking only to hack up a lung and get dirty looks from fellow passengers who probably wondered if I was giving them ebola. And I spent the flight back with my hands covering my face because it felt like a million daggers were being pushed through my sinuses, and I was trying not to scream.
BUT if I had had a normal trip, there is some great music on my playlist this fall that I would have been listening to. And if you'll be doing some fall travel, I highly recommend the DJ stylings of myself *wink*. There's a little bit of everything. It's pretty bipolar, in fact, because that's how I feel about autumn. One minute, I'm like "Leaves! Pumpkins! Candles! Blankets!"
Then the next minute, I'm like "OH FUCK. WINTER IS COMING."
So on that note, please enjoy my emotionally confused autumn tunes and Jen's consistently hip beats as well, and don't forget to follow us on Spotify!
